Mayple Syrup Time

Had an awesome family outing today at the Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center. Alexander, Jade, Isabella Mike and I all went on a tour on how right here in Troy, MI they tap Maple trees for their sap and turn it into maple syrup and maple sugar. Did you know that when the sap comes out of the tree it is clear and looks just like water? Well it is 98% water and only 2% sugar. They have to boil the sap and let all of the water dissipate leaving the syrup left in the pan. It was really cool after we watched them make the syrup we then got to actually eat a waffle with the just made syrup on it - Yummy!!!

I know I had a really good time, it was really interesting. The kids loved it too they actually found it interesting. Of course we bought some maple syrup and t
hey came home and had some on ego waffles right away.
